For over twenty years, the City of Sacramento has offered a highly successful recreation adult travel program. Enjoy site-seeing, shopping, dining and entertainment with us. Trips vary from affordable day trips to 10 day excursions. Transportation and accommodation fees are included in the trip cost.

Saturday, February 28 - FULL
Enjoy a refreshing day along San Francisco’s waterfront at PIER 39! Your visit includes admission to the Aquarium of the Bay, where you can walk through underwater tunnels filled with sharks, rays, jellies, and thousands of local fish, explore interactive exhibits, and watch playful river otters. Stop by the Sea Lion Center and head outside to see the famous sea lions on their floating docks. You’ll also have free time to enjoy lunch on your own, browse waterfront shops, savor treats like bread-bowl clam chowder or hot cocoa, and relax by the water in this scenic, lively destination. A detailed itinerary will be mailed to registrants 1–2 weeks before the trip. Registration deadline: Tuesday, February 10.

Experience the excitement of the 146th Annual Bok Kai Parade and Festival, presented by the Marysville Chinese Community in Historic Downtown Marysville. Celebrate this cherished cultural tradition with colorful performances, lively entertainment, and vibrant parade displays featuring lion dancers, community groups, and festive floats. After the parade, enjoy free time to explore the festival at your own pace, browse vendors, enjoy cultural demonstrations, and take in the lively atmosphere. Lunch will be on your own. A detailed itinerary will be mailed to registrants 1–2 weeks before the trip. Registration deadline: Monday, March 2.

Enjoy the ocean breeze along Monterey’s scenic coastline! Stroll through historic Cannery Row, once a sardine-packing hub and now home to lively shops, restaurants, and waterfront views. Visit the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, featuring a massive Kelp Forest, vibrant marine life, and the stunning Open Sea exhibit.
Experience Whalefest Monterey, an event set around Old Fisherman’s Wharf and Custom House Plaza! Discover exhibits from dozens of local and national non-profits focused on marine science, environmental sustainability, and ocean conservation. Dine on your own, so take your pick from one-ofa- kind eateries, whether fresh seafood or casual bites with a view! A detailed itinerary will be sent to registrants 1–2 weeks before the trip. Meet Rose Wonders, Filoli’s 27-foot troll created by artist Thomas Dambo. Crafted from reclaimed materials, Rose has found her permanent home among Filoli’s towering redwoods. Her quiet curiosity and wide-eyed wonder invite visitors of all ages to explore themes of recycling, creativity, nature, and personal reflection. Guests can even climb through her cascading hair or stand in her hand for a special, up-close experience. During your visit, enjoy a self-guided tour of the historic Filoli estate—built in 1917 and known for its 36,000-square-foot Georgian mansion, 16-acre English garden, and Old World elegance. In June, the gardens come alive with camellias, peonies, roses, and lavender! Take your time exploring the house and grounds, enjoy lunch in the Café, or bring your own to eat in the picnic area.

Nestled in the scenic Marin Headlands, The Marine Mammal Center is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating sick and injured marine mammals, including elephant seals, sea lions, whales, sea otters, harbor seals, dolphins, and other endangered species. As the world’s leading hospital for marine mammals, the Center provides life-saving care to more animals than any other facility. Join a docentled tour through the Center’s educational exhibits and patient observation areas to learn about the fascinating recovery stories and the incredible work of their dedicated volunteers. Next, travel to charming Sausalito and enjoy lunch on your own and free time to explore the shops and sights of this picturesque coastal town! Spaces for this tour are limited, so be sure to register in advance!
