Get Involved

The people who Volunteer In Parks are our VIPs! We have a variety of ways to get involved, ranging from short-term or single-time events you can sign up for to longer-term reoccurring commitments. Are you interested in short-term or single-time event(s)? All you need to do is register for the volunteer event you are interested in and plan to attend. When you register, you’ll be set up with a YPCE VIP membership, making it easier to volunteer at future events.

Event: District 1 916 Day at North Natomas Community Park
Date: 9/13/24
Time: 4-7pm
Description: Volunteers will be planting around 500 shrubs west and south of the tennis courts, cleanup trash along the park and path that runs behind it, pull weeds, grease the swings at the playground. Volunteers will enjoy snacks and refreshments during this event.

Event: District 2 916 Day at Johnston Park
Date: 9/7/24
Time: 9am-12pm
Description: Volunteers will help reassemble bleachers, re-sod the area where there was a pre-existing concrete square to be torn out by Parks Maintenance, re-paint gates in front of parking lot, re-paint red curbs in parking lot, and plant shrubs in parking lot planter, pending irrigation verification by Parks Maintenance. Volunteers will be treated to snacks and refreshments during this event.

Event: District 3 916 Day at Bannon Creek Parkway
Date: 9/14/24
Time: 1-4pm
Description: Volunteers will paint picnic tables and stain the host table underneath the barn structure, paint the bridge near the farm equipment, and clean up trash down the parkway and walking/biking path. Volunteers will enjoy snacks and refreshments during this event.

Event: District 4 916 Day at Matsui Park/ Intake Plaza for Hanami Line
Date: 9/14/24
Time: 9am-12pm
Description: Volunteers will plant rosemary on the hill of the Intake Plaza Parking Lot, prep tree planters for Fall plantings, cleanup trash along the bike path, and potentially paint a mural pending DOU approval. Volunteers will enjoy snacks and refreshments during this event.

Event: District 5 916 Day at McClatchy Park
Date: 9/15/24
Time: 1-4pm
Description: Volunteers will fill in the decomposed granite along the perimeter walking path and clean up trash in the park. Volunteers will also receive free plants from the Community Garden Team as well as snacks and refreshments during this event. Register here! 

Event: District 6 916 Day at Bill Bean Jr Park
Date: 9/15/24
Time: 8am-12pm
Description: Volunteers will pull weeds and plant rosemary near the art sculpture, clean up trash throughout the park, install a new volleyball net, and help fix exercise equipment. Volunteers will enjoy snacks and refreshments at this event.

Event: District 8 916 Day at North Laguna
Date: 9/16/24
Time: 5:30-8:30pm
Description: Volunteers will paint backstops and bleachers near the baseball diamond, pick up trash near the wildlife area, install new site furniture with the guidance of Parks Maintenance staff, plant shrubs near pond, set up volleyball net and spread sand at volleyball court. Volunteers will enjoy non-profit vendors and snacks and refreshments during this event.

Level 1: Short-term, less than 24 volunteer hours per year. This includes one-time special events, park volunteer days, etc.

Level 2: Long-term, 24 volunteer hours or more per year. This includes recreation programs and youth sports coaches.
