Starting May 1, 2024, the City of Sacramento is giving free compost to residents in partnership with organic waste recycler, Agromin. Residents can place up to two orders using the City's coupon code. The program is a way to give back to the community while meeting regulations required by Senate Bill 1383. This compost is a product of our curbside organics recycling program.
There is a limited amount of bagged compost also available for pickup by reservation at a different location - see below.
All compost available while supplies last.
Residents can place up to two orders of Compost 100 using the City’s coupon code and have the option to pickup the compost or have it delivered, for a fee. The coupon is valid for two uses, equaling up to a maximum total of 6 cubic yards of compost, per customer, per year with Agromin.
The minimum amount for pickup is 1/2 cubic yard which covers about 50 square feet with a 3-inch depth.

Compost is an excellent way to provide essential nutrients for vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees and can reduce or eliminate the need for chemical fertilizers. Using compost can also reduce water use and help improve soil health.
See below for how to use it in your garden, lawn, or potted plants.
