Two free appointments per year for customers

All residential customers can schedule two appointments for appliance and e-waste collection in a calendar year. These appointments are in addition to the two household junk appointments offered February - October.

Appointments may be scheduled by the residential collection service customer, including tenants of rental premises such as single-family homes and duplexes
Material must be placed out for collection by 6:00 AM on the scheduled appointment day.
Materials should be in place no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Early set-outs may result in a fine.
All cancellations or reschedule requests should be made by 5:00pm two business days prior to the scheduled appointment date. Failure to cancel may result in a charge for additional appointments during the calendar year. Please note, if an appointment is scheduled and not canceled before the pickup date, the customer's account will be charged for one free pickup.
If the customer has already used their two free pickups, they may be charged a fee for the canceled pickup.
Household Junk Appointments require a separate appointment.

Tenants of multi-family residences with five or more units, who are not serviced by the City of Sacramento's solid waste collection, will need to contact their landlord, property management, and/or commercial hauler to arrange a appliance pickup.

Appliances and household junk will most likely be picked up on different days, which may not be your standard collection day. If you plan to schedule both at the same time, please make an appointment for each separately. Please note the placement instructions for each pickup as they may be different.

Collection guidelines

Materials should be out no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Early set-outs may result in a fine.
Material must be placed out for collection by 6:00 AM on the scheduled appointment day.
There is a minimum weight of at least 10 lbs. per pickup.

E-waste

Up to four e-waste items Several small handheld devices, such as cell phones, calculators, etc. can be placed in one box and count as one of the four large e-waste items. Remove any removable batteries.

Placement: All e-waste should be placed on the property, at the end of the driveway, visible, and easy to access.

Limit to four (4) e-waste items per appointment. Place small items like cell phones in a box. Counts as one (1) E-Waste item

Non-acceptable items

These items are not accepted in the Appliance and E-Waste Program

Household Batteries
Fluorescent Lamps and Bulbs
Radioactive Devices - smoke detectors, exit signs, thermostats
Solar Panels including landscape lights and lamps
Bio-Hazard - i.e. medical test kits, syringes, medical wastes
Household Hazardous Waste - pesticides, paint, used oil, or cleaning supplies
Mercury Containing - electric irons, thermostats, switches, and broken lamps Pressurized Containers - such as fire extinguishers propane canisters and butane canisters
Items with adhered lithium batteries (e.g. Hoverboards, Dyson vacuum, Samsung Galaxy 6 cell phones, etc.)
Excessive E-Waste Breakage Techno Trash (e.g., CDs, VHS tapes and DVDs.)
Household trash, recyclables and yard waste
