Meter & Space Reservation Approval Process

Please allow up to two weeks for a response after submission of the Meter & Space Reservation Application. Requests are processed in the order received.

Application processing requires time to verify the availabilty of the requested spaces, coordinate between multiple City of Sacramento departments to ensure all permit requirements are met, and to ensure resources are available to fulfill the request.

Parking spaces may not be posted and spaces may not sectioned off until the application is approved. Receipt of an application does not constiute application approval. 

Application approval

Upon approval of an application, a permit number will be assigned. This permit number will be reflected on the vehicle permits.  

The approval email will come from MeterCSR@cityofsacramento.org. Please check junk and spam email boxes to ensure emails from this address are received. 

Payment of fees

Upon application approval, an invoice will be generated and a unique link for payment will be emailed to the applicant. 

Fees must be paid before permits are issued. Permits will be issued via email. 

 

Posting signage

Signs (including any barricades or stands) must be posted no less than 72 hours prior to the event or project start time for spaces to be enforceable.

If a posting fee was paid with the reservation, then City staff will perform all postings by the 72-hour deadline and later remove the postings when the reservation terminates.

Waiver of posting fee

Applicants may waive the posting fee by either posting signage themselves or hire a vendor to post signage.  

Applicant is responsible for ensuring signs at reserved spaces are posted a minimum of 72 hours before the reservation start date. 

Pictures of posted signage must be emailed to MeterCSR@cityofsacramento.org no less than 72 hours prior to the reservation state date for reserved spaces to be enforceable.

Failure to submit photo proof will render the spaces unenforceable and no tows or citations will be issued.

Change orders

Process to request modifications to the original order, including: 

  • Extension to reservation dates or hours
  • To add or reduce the number of spaces from the original order. 
  • To exchange a metered space or non-metered space for another space in the same area. 

If an invoice number has been assigned to the reservation, please submit change orders through the online Reservation Change Order Form

If no invoice number has yet been assigned, please email change order requests to MeterCSR@cityofsacramento.org with company name and date of original request in the subject line. The email should contain:

  • Type of change
  • Details of request
  • Original location requested

A Reservation Change Order will not be processed without prior submission of a Meter & Space Reservation Application.

Change order requests submitted less than 10 business days prior to the event start date will incur an expedite fee. Any fees for additional metered and/or non-metered spaces will also be assessed.

Submission of a Change Order is acknowledgement of a request for service to be performed and does not automatically guarantee the spaces. All change order applications must be approved by Parking Services prior to the event start date.

End of reservation

If spaces were posted by applicants, then it is the applicant's responsibility to clear all parking spaces by the reservation expiration time and date. Signage and barricades posted by applicant also must be removed. 

Any large vehicle, equipment, or obstruction remaining in the reservation area after the reservation end date or time will be automatically processed as a Change Order and will incur the following charges for each day the spaces are occupied:

  • Daily parking fees at the Meter & Space Reservation rate 
  • A $175 expedite fee 

An invoice will be submitted to the responsible party when the removal is confirmed.
