Monthly Parking Permits

Monthly parking rates for commuters offer a discount over paying the daily rate. Programs vary by facility in terms of the type of credentials used and when payments are due.

Residents may also utilize a monthly account for residential parking. Overnight parking is permitted for up to 72 hours per parking session. Vehicles must be operable and cannot be stored in the facility (parked more than 72 hours at a time). An extension to the overnight parking limit may be submitted via email for residents who go on vacation or have special circumstances requiring more time.

Additional discounts over the monthly rate are offered for electric vehicles and carpool accounts.

Facility type

Monthly parking is offered at garages and parking lots. Check the rates depending on the preferred facility type:

  • Garage: Vertical, multi-level structure that offers covered parking spaces, with the exception of the top floor in some facilities. Entry typically requires use of a parking card, key code access, or other credentials to pass a gate arm at the entrance and exit. Access to each floor provided by stairs or elevators.

  • Parking lots: Open-air facilities with parking stalls at ground level. Presence of a gate arm access or any covered parking spaces varies by facility. Credentials include ePermits (license plate enforcement) or key code access.

Facilities with wait lists

Monthly parking is based on availability of spaces in the parking facility.  Please join the Monthly Parking Wait List to receive notification when a space is available.

  1.  View the monthly parking rates on the Garage parking rates or Parking lot rates pages.

  2. Click on Join Wait List to enter your contact information and the facility where you wish to obtain monthly parking.

  3. An account representative for that facility will contact you when there is availability for that facility. If contacted, please reply immediately to confirm acceptance of the space and a representative will reach out to assist with sign-up. Please ensure your correct contact information is entered on the form.

  4. Monthly accounts require payment prior to the first of each month to keep the permit or credential current. Failure to pay by the due dates in accordance to that facility's monthly parking agreement may result in loss of parking access.

  5. Accounts that are cancelled, or terminated for non-payment, will result in loss of account access and the next person on the wait list will be contacted.

  6. Wait list spots cannot be "saved" or "skipped" if you are contacted and decline monthly parking at the time of the call. You may choose to remove your name from the wait list or move to the end of the list.  Names are electronically logged on the wait list in the order received.

Facilities that require an access card: A $25 administrative fee is assessed for new and replacement cards. Cards are available for pick-up at the Revenue Customer Service counter when the application and all fees are received.

Facilities that require an ePermit: A license plate number must be provided. Changes to the vehicle license plate number must be reported to the parking account representative to maintain the permit and avoid a parking citation. An initial administrative fee will be assessed for use of this service.

Storage of vehicles prohibited

Parking facilities must accommodate parking for all customers. Public parking garages are not intended as long-term storage for vehicles with unplanned operation or are inoperable. To ensure sufficient availability of spaces, all customers are prohibited from utilizing the facility as vehicle storage or parking a vehicle in the facility with the intent to use it as a storage vessel.

Failure to respond to communication from the Parking Division regarding such violation may result in removal of the vehicle (tow) at the driver’s or registered owner’s expense

Overnight parking

Residents or monthly (non-resident) cardholders may park in their designated facilities overnight and for no more than 72 continuous hours. Vehicles parked in excess of 72 hours and/or appear to be inoperable, abandoned, or used as a storage vessel, will result in notification to the monthly cardholder, or resident, prior to any action involving removal of the vehicle.

Pursuant to Sacramento City Code 10.44.110, no vehicles, including resident vehicles, may park in a City of Sacramento parking facility for more than 72 hours without prior approval from the facility supervisor. Vehicles without prior approval are subject to removal from the facility (tow).

To request approval to park for more than 72 continuous hours, please use the Overnight Parking Extension link to email the facility supervisor. The email must include:

  • Name of the garage facility,
  • Vehicle license plate number of the vehicle that will remain parked
  • The reason for the request

Approval must be received via email or written notification from the facility supervisor, or their designee, to confirm authorization to park for more than 72 hours. Approvals may include conditions that the resident cardholder must adhere to.

Failure to obtain proper permission from the facility supervisor or failure to abide by any conditions of an approval may result in removal from the facility (tow) at the driver’s or registered vehicle owner’s expense.

Remember your permit

Some facilities utilize a physical permit to enter and exit. Due to the discount over the daily rate provided through these permits, it is the responsibility and condition of the card agreement that the card holder to be in possession of the card when entering or exiting the garage.

The daily rate will be charged if the account holder does not have the card in their possession to use at the entry or exit.  If the card is not present at the entrance, then a ticket must be pulled and paid for at the exit. If the card was used to enter, but is not present at the exit, then an IOU will be issued which will require payment of the max daily fees within 7 days.

Monthly payment due dates

Please refer to the agreement for your monthly account. Payment dates vary by facility. Non-payment of fees may result in either assessment of late fees or termination of the account.

AutoPay option

All monthly programs offer an AutoPay option that deducts monthly fees on the same date from a credit or debit card. The AutoPay deduction date and grace period varies by facility and account type (ePermit or access card). There are no additional fees to participate in the AutoPay option.

If a card is declined for payment, an email notification about payment failure will be sent.  Some accounts will assess a late fee prior to the end of the grace period. Accounts will be terminated at the end of the month if AutoPay is unsuccessful or no payment is received. For ePermits, the credential will be disabled in the system. For access cards, the card will be blocked.

Update or cancel account

Updates or cancellation of accounts are only accepted by using the Monthly Change Order Form.

Verbal requests or email messages to update or cancel cannot be accepted. Please complete the Monthly Change Order Form to formalize the request.
