Franklin Boulevard Gap Closure Project

Project description

The Franklin Boulevard Gap Closure Project is located on Franklin Boulevard between Mack Road and A Parkway. The improvements identified for this project include pavement rehabilitation, curb ramp reconstruction, buffered bike lanes and pedestrian crossing improvements.

Benefits

This project is part of a larger effort by the City of Sacramento to fill the bicycle connectivity gaps on Franklin Boulevard. It fills in the final gap between projects that span from Big Horn Boulevard to Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The signal improvements proposed by this project will upgrade detection for bicyclists and vehicles at the signalized intersections. Curb ramp reconstruction will further contribute to pedestrian safety and accessibility throughout the project limits.

Costs and funding

This project is funded with Senate Bill 1 Local Partnership Program and local Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account funds. The estimated cost of construction is approximately $4.9 million.

Schedule

Construction is planned to begin in Spring 2025.
