Meet Supervising Dispatcher Stephanie Tovera

Supervising Dispatcher Stephanie Tovera currently manages Late Watch operations for the 911 Dispatch Center. Stephanie began her career with the Sacramento Police Department in June of 2016. While getting settled in her new career, Stephanie took on additional opportunities and became an Academy Instructor while also being a full-time student and soldier in the Army reserves. In August of 2021, Stephanie was promoted to Dispatcher III and began her new role as a first line supervisor in Dispatch.

As a Dispatcher III, Stephanie was assigned as the Academy Training Coordinator to oversee the Dispatch Training Academy, hiring, and recruiting for Communications Center. While in this role, Stephanie focused much of her effort to improve staffing and implement innovative recruiting efforts to maximize hiring results. Stephanie’s passion is training and the development of the next generation of Dispatchers to serve the City of Sacramento community. Stephanie is a United States Army Veteran who served 10 years in the Military Intelligence field holding the rank of Staff Sergeant. Four of those years was in active duty and included a tour to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. While in the Army, Stephanie earned an Associate's Degree in Intelligence Operations Studies and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Sacramento State University. Stephanie is the recipient of the Sacramento Police Department Unit Citation and Employee of the quarter award and currently holds the California POST Dispatcher Advanced and Supervisory certificates.
