Meet Lieutenant Orlando Morales

Office of Operations – North Command

Lieutenant Orlando Morales began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 2004. He is currently assigned to the Office of Operations as a Watch Commander out of the North Command. Orlando has previously worked as a Patrol Officer, Problem Oriented Policing Officer, Field Training Officer, and Criminal Intelligence Detective.

In 2017, Orlando was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, Orlando supervised Patrol teams, a Cannabis compliance team, and Detective teams within the Office of Investigations. Orlando was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2024.

Orlando grew up in Southern California and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. His continued professional development has included SPD’s Front Line Leadership course, POST Supervisor course, and the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute course.

When Orlando is not working, he enjoys camping with his family, hiking, and cycling.
