Meet Lieutenant Eddie Macaulay

Office of Operations – South Command

Lieutenant Eddie Macaulay grew up in the Central Valley of California, before moving to Sacramento to attend Sacramento State University where he majored in Criminal Justice. While attending Sacramento State Eddie served as a Student Trainee with the Sacramento Police Department. After graduation, he attended the Sacramento Police Academy in 2006.

Eddie has held assignments in patrol, has been a crisis negotiator, and served with the Post Release Community Supervision Team. He was then assigned to investigations, in the Neighborhood Crimes Unit, Felony Assaults Unit, and finally the Homicide Unit. Eddie was then selected as one of the Public Information Officers. He was promoted to Sergeant and worked assignments in Patrol, Outreach, and Recruiting. In 2022, Eddie was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a Watch Commander with South Command. Eddie is currently assigned to Forensics and Investigative Services.

Eddie has been a member of the Sacramento Police Department Honor Guard since 2010 and is currently on the board of directors for the Sacramento Police Sheriff Memorial Foundation.

Eddie is the recipient of a Bronze Medal of Valor and a Unit Citation Award.

Outside of work, Eddie enjoys traveling with his husband and competing in Triathlons.
