Sacramento Fire Department Fire Investigators professionally and comprehensively investigate fires to determine origin and cause, for the purpose of effectively impacting fire incident frequency, monetary loss, fire related injuries, deaths, and criminal arrest of persons responsible for arson and/or fraud. All Investigators assigned to the unit are peace officers pursuant to 830.37 PC and possess the powers of arrest. To provide arson crime tips and/or information to the fire department for any on-going criminal and/or suspicious activity, please call the Arson Tip Line: (916) 808-8732 You may also provide arson crime tips and information anonymously by contacting Sacramento Crime Alert at: 1-800-AA-CRIME.

Is your child experimenting with fire? The Firefighters Burn Institute Youth Firesetter Program provides a coordinated effort to assist youth firesetters and their families to receive the help they need through education, diversion, assessment, and psychological services. The program is administered by the Firefighters Burn Institute and available to families living in the Sacramento County and some areas of Nevada, Yuba, Placer, and Yolo Counties.
