The Office of Homeless Services manages and administers the City’s contracts for its shelters, navigation and respite centers and transitional housing. This inventory includes the Roseville Road shelter and service campus, the Outreach and Engagement Center, the City’s Motel Program and the X Street and Meadowview Navigation Centers.
In total, the City maintains approximately 1,375 shelter beds on a nightly basis where people can have their basic needs met – including a safe place to stay and access to meals, hygiene and sanitation – so they can begin their path toward recovery, wellness and self-sufficiency. The programs are designed to best support various populations, including individual adults, families with children, LGBTQ and transitional age youth (TAY) experiencing homelessness.
Additionally, DCR staff serve as the City of Sacramento representation on the board of the local Continuum of Care (CoC), which is responsible for managing regional planning, coordination and evaluation to ensure that the system of homeless assistance resources is used effectively and efficiently to rapidly and permanently end people’s homelessness.
