In the summer of 2024, City staff conducted outreach, sharing the Opportunities and Constraints Analysis with community members and seeking input. Staff is reviewing the community feedback and will present the findings to City Council.

4th Annual South Sacramento Festival

Description: The South Sacramento Festival was created in 2021 with the idea to bring communities in South Sacramento together through dance, music, art, food, and more. This annual event celebrates the diversity in our vibrant community that makes South Sacramento great! The Festival is an opportunity to connect with residents, community organizations, small businesses, and neighborhood associations and build a deeper connection with the groups that make our community a great place to live, work, and play. The festival is organized by the Office of Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang.

Description: Join City staff at the pool for a free kid-friendly mixer where you can learn about the 102-Acre Site and other City initiatives. Light refreshments provided.

Community Information Session

Time: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Location: Pannell Community Center (2450 Meadowview Rd, Sacramento)
Description: Join us for a free open house event! Engage with City staff, learn about the City-owned 102-Acre Site in South Sacramento, and share your ideas for its future. The session will offer opportunities to provide your input both in person and online. Light refreshments will be provided.

City Council Meeting Discussion

On April 9, 2024, Community Development Department staff presented an overview of the 102-acre site, covering its location, context, and history. They also shared findings from the opportunities and constraints analysis and outlined next steps. Public comments and Council discussion followed the presentation. 

District 8 Community Listening Sessions
During the spring of 2022, Councilmember Vang’s office hosted seven community listening sessions, garnering District 8 resident suggestions for the Site’s development. The community vision focuses on:

  • Resilience and sustainability
  • Health, connectivity, and affordable housing
  • Wellness and public safety
  • DEI, civic amenities, and environmental justice
