If you are not ready or interested in developing your property for housing or another use, here are a few ideas to activate or develop your property.

Sell or donate the property

Does selling your property make sense for you? If you are not interested in activating your vacant property for permanent housing or other potential temporary uses, and you have no plans to make changes anytime soon, then you may want to consider selling the property to someone who does. The Sacramento region includes many people and companies interested in purchasing vacant lots to transform them into something that the community desires. The region also has many real estate agents, brokers and realtors to assist with the disposition of your property.

Donating a property is also an option. A property donated for purposes of constructing affordable housing may be eligible to receive tax benefits.

Activate or spruce up the property

Consider some low impact uses such as a park, urban agriculture (market garden, community garden, private garden, aquaculture, or urban beekeeping), or install a fence such as black wrought iron fence. See the City's urban agriculture website.
