Public Counter Appointments

The Public Counter will be closed for in-person services December 24, 2024, through January 2, 2025. Business will continue to be done electronically, except for City-observed holidays. We will resume regular counter hours on January 7, 2025, with appointments available Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In-person services

Appointments for planning applications and minor building permit needs are available Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with two appointments available for each half-hour time slot.

All plan review submittals/resubmittals will continue to be submitted online through the Public Permit Portal.

You can request an appointment for the following services:

  • Minor permits
  • General questions
  • Fee payment

All other business will continue to be done electronically. Please note: paper plans are no longer accepted.

Public counter appointments

Appointments for minor permit services and general questions are available for Building, Planning, Code Enforcement, Development Engineering, Fire, Housing and Dangerous Building, Rental Housing Inspection and Utilities.

In your request, please indicate:

  • Project site address
  • Nature or scope of the work
  • Whether commercial or residentia
  • Contact information including phone number and e-mail address (this will be used to send pre-appointment forms/information and for confirmation of the appointment)

Cashier services and appointments

Cashier appointments are not needed Tuesday through Thursday during public counter hours. Cashier services on Mondays and Fridays are available by appointment between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and can be scheduled via email to CDD-Cashieringappointments@cityofsacramento.org or by phone at (916) 808-5318.

For Cashier Appointments, provide the following in your email or voicemail:

  • Time
  • Date
  • Contact information of the person who will be coming in to make an appointment

At the time of your cashier appointment, a cashier will meet you in the 1st floor lobby at 300 Richards Blvd. to retrieve and process your payment.

To cancel/reschedule an appointment

Please cancel your scheduled appointment if you receive service prior to your appointment date to allow others to book the time slot.
