Preapproved Accessory Dwelling Units (AB-1332)

This page contains information for the City of Sacramento Preapproved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) process. California Assembly Bill 1332 (AB-1332; California Government Code Section 65852.27) requires local jurisdictions to create a process to preapprove ADU plans and a web page posting the preapproved plans. This process is intended to help facilitate housing by helping to streamline the permit approval process and reduce the normal cost associated with a new ADU building permit. This process is available to anyone interested in submitting a detached ADU plan for preapproval.

Prior to building permit issuance, all preapproved plans will require site-specific design and permitting approval, including planning and zoning approval, like all other new building projects.

For more information about the preapproval process refer to our Information for Designers page.

Links to the preapproved plans are located below under Available Pre-Approved ADU Plans.

The City of Sacramento does not specially authorize, recommend, or endorse any designers that have a preapproved ADU plan listed on the webpage.
