We value and appreciate our teen volunteers! Teens bring dedication, passion, creativity, and energy to our volunteer program. Some teens volunteer for a short time to complete a school project and others volunteer year-round. Explore which option is best for you and your teen.

Age requirements for volunteering

  • Minimum age requirement is 12 years old.
  • If you are 12 years old to 15 years old, you must volunteer alongside a parent or guardian.
  • The parent or guardian is required to take all of the steps to be a registered volunteer.

School-required community service

Need to complete community service hours for school but it is not for your senior project and you do not need a mentor? This option is best for students from multiple grades who do not have a deadline for mentor approval and do not need mentor meeting checkpoints for a project.

What to expect

Students may have an hours-verification form to be signed. This form can be dropped off in a specified location. Please allow up to 1 week for the form to be signed. Students must log their hours online and physically sign-in and sign-out for each shift in the labeled student binder in order for hours to be credited.

If you are 12-15 years old, you must volunteer alongside a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must also complete all of the "how to get started" steps.

Plan to volunteer at least 12 hours on-site by helping out with one or more of the following:

  • Organizing donated items
