Why did you come to the Financial Empowerment Center?

I came to the Financial Empowerment Center because I was stuck. I had done all that I knew how to do and it felt like my dream of becoming a homeowner would never come true. Because rent and other bills were so high I struggled with saving money towards a down payment.

What financial achievements have you made since coming to the FEC?

Since coming to the FEC I've been able to improve my credit. With the advice and help from my financial coach I have gotten negative remarks removed from my credit report. I have paid down the balance on my credit cards. Getting rid of unnecessary bills has allowed me to save money and I opened up a high yield savings account.

Why and how has the FEC made a difference in your financial future and overall life? What has working with a Financial Coach done to help you, your family, etc.? What would you say to a friend or family member who was curious about how the FEC could help them?

The FEC has changed my life for the better. They have opened my eyes to a number of financial issues I never even knew I had. I am more conscientious about my spending. I think two or three times about making purchases big or small. I feel like I have gained so much insight into my finances.

Working with a financial coach has taught me how to reach my goals by prioritizing them. My coach showed me how to make a budget and stick to it or adjust it as needed. By working with my coach, it has given me the knowledge I need to achieve my goals of financial stability. I would tell my family and friends that FEC is the way to go if they need any advice or guidance in the finance area. They helped me in so many ways and I'm sure it can help them.

Do you plan to continue working with your Financial Coach to achieve specific goals? What goals? How can the FEC help you achieve these goals?

I plan to continue working with my financial coach to achieve many goals. After I accomplish the goal of purchasing my first home, I would like to become a small business owner to create generational wealth for my child and their children to come. The FEC can continue to help me by giving me financial advice and keeping me on track with routine check-ins.
