StartupSac teaching early-stage entrepreneurs how to launch their businesses using Kauffman FastTrac®

StartupSac, with funding from an Accelerator and Incubator Grant from the City of Sacramento, is excited to announce the next cohort of the Kauffman FastTrac® Entrepreneurial Training Program! This 12-week program is designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs and those in the very early stages of launching a business turn their ideas into reality. Through expert guidance, practical tools, and mentorship, participants will gain the skills and confidence needed to take their first steps toward building a successful business

Who is the Program For?

This program is for individuals who are just starting to explore their business idea or are ready to take the first steps toward launching it. Participants must reside or have a business located within the City of Sacramento to be eligible for this cohort, as the program is funded by a grant from the City. Participants must also be ready to commit to the 12-week program and spend 2–4 hours a week on assignments outside of program meetings.

About the Program

FastTrac will help participants refine their business idea, identify their ideal customers, and develop a clear roadmap to bring their business to market. Weekly sessions are supplemented by the Kauffman Foundation’s online FastTrac® curriculum, offering practical exercises and tools to support business development. By the end of the program, participants will have:

  • A realistic and practical business plan they’ve already started.
  • The basics on how to set up their business.
  • A solid understanding of business financials.

The program culminates with a Demo Day celebration where participants can showcase their progress to family, friends, and peers.

Logistics

The program will meet Wednesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Bloom Workspaces in Midtown Sacramento, starting February 19, 2025, and running through May 14, 2025. Don’t miss your chance to turn your business idea into reality!

Kauffman FastTrac was launched in 1993 by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and carries out Mr. Kauffman’s belief that everyone has a fundamental right to turn an idea into an economic reality, regardless of who you are or where you’re from, with zero barriers in the way. StartupSac is an official affiliate of the program.

Apply for the Alchemist Microenterprise Academy

Alchemist CDC is offering the Alchemist Microenterprise Academy (AMA), funded in part by the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation and Economic Development Incubator and Accelerator grants.

This 12-week business training course designed to cover the fundamentals of starting and growing a food business for entrepreneurs in the greater Sacramento region, particularly those who are from low-income backgrounds or under-resourced communities.

Alchemist will cover important topics such as business financing, permitting, marketing, developing a business plan and so much more. The Spring 2025 cohort is limited to apporximatley 20 participants and will be mostly held on Zoom. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and engage with a dynamic community of like-minded entrepreneurs, staff, and expert guest speakers.

Completing AMA is the prerequisite to apply for the Alchemist Kitchen Incubator Program (AKIP) where qualifying food businesses receive up to five years of one-on-one mentorship. Since AKIP began three years ago, it has grown to 24 businesses whose products can be found in 20 area stores, 9 different farmers markets and with partnerships in cafe’s, restaurants, sporting events and festivals that stretch well beyond our area code.

Alchemist is hosting four AMA Information Sessions live-on-Zoom every Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. between January 15 and February 5. Also, they have the option to watch the info session in a recorded, on-demand format. These Information Sessions will explain about the program and how to apply. It is mandatory to attend an information session or watch one on demand in order to apply for the program.
