City of Sacramento Drowing Prevention Event

Annual Event held at Tiscornia Beach - May 21st 2024

City of Sacramento’s Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department and Youth Programs and Community Enrichment, host a downing prevention event each May at Tiscornia Beach. This event features informative demonstrations promoting water safety.

This event brings together experts from several City of Sacramento departments to highlight current waterway conditions, safety hazards, and response capabilities during water rescue operations. Media and the community will receive expert analysis and tips on safety precautions members of the public can take to keep themselves and loved ones safe while enjoying water recreation.

Drowning is a significant hazard across the region as temperatures rise and our community heads to the water to cool off. The City’s goal is to continue building on previous years’ success of reducing drownings by engaging with the community on how to stay safe in and around water.
