The Sacramento City Council and the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors make funds available to the Cultural Arts Awards (CAA) program to support nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. This funding provides general operating support to organizations within Sacramento County who contribute to the cultural vibrancy of our communities.

To be eligible for funding, organizations must meet standards of diversity and equity, artistic and/or cultural contribution, community impact, show sound management, and demonstrate financial and organizational accountability. More information can be found in the guidelines liked below.

Questions and Accommodations

All questions regarding the Cultural Arts Award must be submitted to oaccaagrant@cityofsacramento.org. Questions provided before November 30th, 2024 will be compiled into Frequently Asked Questions resource which will be made available on December 1st, 2024.

If applicants require in-language assistance, materials in large font, or other accommodations, please submit requests in writing to oaccaagrant@cityofsacramento.org. The City will make reasonable accommodations to provide assistance as practicable.

Schedule Appointment with Angie Eng

Angie Eng is a professional artist, writer, curator, and cultural arts program designer with a Ph.D. in Intermedia Arts, Writing and Performance. She has established 4 non-profit cultural programs in New York City, Paris, Boulder and Ethiopia. As an art director and cultural programs director she has won over 50 commissions, residencies, or grants for her art and community art projects.

 

Schedule Appointment with Patrick Burns

Patrick Burns is an artist and leader whose work bridges theatre, music, advocacy, and education. He is best known for From Foster Care to Fabulous, an original musical that raises awareness about foster care and has received accolades nationwide. Patrick has served as Production Manager at Broadway Sacramento, Associate Conductor for the second national tour of Spamalot, and a two-time Syracuse Area Local Theatre Award winner for Best Musical Director. Most recently, he was named a three-time Lincoln City Fellow with the Speranza Foundation for his work as a composer and playwright. A passionate advocate, Patrick mentors artists and creates work that shines a light on social justice issues.

 

Schedule Appointment with Suzette Riddle

Suzette has worked with nonprofits for more than 30 years and currently  consults, providing services in organizational readiness, leadership, programming, and fund development. Previously, Suzette was executive director  for California Lectures, the Sacramento Ballet, and Fairytale Town. She has been a grants panelist for the Office of Arts & Culture and California Arts Council, and was the founding committee chair to launch Sacramento's Poet Laureate Program.
